Last night, Steve had has Upward Basketball Awards Night. This is the conclusion of the 10-week season for the kids - a time to celebrate and end the season together. The weather made the night questionable (will we have it or not? who will come?), but the show went on and it was a packed night. I was able to go and support Steve (thanks, Mom and Dad for keeping Elijah for us). It was a great night! We had worship (with our new youth/young adult worship leader), videos and a special "performance" by Bruce Crevier (he does basketball tricks - juggling, etc. He has been in the Guinness Book of World Records 4 times for some of these tricks). So that was neat to watch. At the end of his performance he gives a message about Christ and invites people to receive Him into their hearts. And many did! Which definitely made the night (in the snow) worth it all! It was great to see people - adults and children alike, standing to make a first-time commitment to Christ. That is one thing I LOVE about Upward - it reaches people not only in the church but in the community who have never been to a church. I am so proud of my husband for all his hard work, long days/nights/weekends, and heart that he has put into this past basketball season. And I am glad I could be there with him last night. The two of us went to dinner afterwards and got to spend some good, quality time reflecting on things and looking forward to things in the future (for us as a family and in his areas of ministry).
Steve, I love you and am so proud of you! Let's pack in lots of dates and family nights before the next season starts! ;)
